Michael Praed was born in Berkeley, England, but spent his early years in Iran. He was sent to England for a Public School education, which he did not enjoy. He attended the Guildhall Scholl of Music and Drama and began his career in live repertory theatre before moving on to roles in the West End. His first big break was playing in "The Pirates of Penzance" with Tim Curry in the West End, where the producers of "Robin of Sherwood" spotted him. After two seasons as Robin, he was lured to Broadway to play the lead in "The Three Musketeers". His Broadway adventure lead to him being cast as Prince Michael in "Dynasty". After his stint on Dynasty, he starred in the films "Nightflyers", "Writer's Block" for USA Cable network, and "Son of Darkness: To Die For II". He also worked on writing and recording music in his own studio. He left Los Angeles for the lead in an Irish production of "Carousel", at the end of 1991, which led to him playing the lead in the West End production of "Aspects of Love". More recently, he's been in the British television series, "Crown Prosecutor" and in the British mini-series, "Riders", based on the best-selling novel by Jilly Cooper.
