Peta Wilson's Biography

Birth name
Peta Rhonda Wilson

Date of birth (location)
18 November 1970, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Height 5' 10"

Athletic, beautiful and daring are the traits that Peta Wilson brings to the character of Nikita, a gorgeous government assassin in the USA series La Femme Nikita. But Wilson comes by those traits naturally. Her father Darcy's position as a warrant officer, caused Wilson, her mother Karlene and brother Rob to move from her birthplace, Sydney Australia, to over a dozen different locations before she was 13. Wilson was mostly raised in Papau, New Guinea. An army brat by her own admission, Wilson was a tomboy, and quite athletic. She became a champion sailor and the youngest woman and best player on the Australian national basketball team. Her looks lead to a modeling career in Europe, but she longed to be an actress and moved to Los Angeles in 1991. There she met and struck up a relationship with director Damian Harris, took acting lessons and eventually landed some small parts in movies and TV shows. Her parents divorced in 1980 but she remains devoted to her grandparents. And when her big role, starring in La Femme Nikita came, she had her grandmother move to Toronto where La Femme Nikita is shot so they could stay close.

The success of Nikita has allowed Wilson to purchase a home in the Hollywood Hills and a ten acre beachfront property in Australia where she and her family can commune. She also has a production company, Sweet Lick Productions. And through another company, Psycht, sells selling sunglasses, watches, running shoes, backpacks etc. to raise money for a performing arts school for disadvantaged children. Wilson enjoys scuba diving, horseback riding, swimming, cricket, painting, and gardening.
